Twister Rips this town

Wow this twister rips up Parkersburg Iowa.  Please pray for this town.

It took generations to build Parkersburg, Iowa. It took only seconds to obliterate it.

Sunday afternoon, one of the deadlier tornadoes in Iowa history chewed up much of the this proud, farming community, killing four people in Parkersburg and two in nearby New Hartford. “This town is not just torn up. It’s gone,” stressed Butler County Sheriff Jason Johnson.

Here is a great truth in the bible that reminds me of memorial day.

Joshua 4:2-9 (New International Version)

2 “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, 3 and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan from right where the priests stood and to carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.”

4 So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, 5 and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, 6 to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 7 tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”

8 So the Israelites did as Joshua commanded them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, as the LORD had told Joshua; and they carried them over with them to their camp, where they put them down. 9 Joshua set up the twelve stones that had been [a] in the middle of the Jordan at the spot where the priests who carried the ark of the covenant had stood. And they are there to this day.

Memorial Day has traditionally been a day of remembering the many heroes who lost their lives during wars in which the United States has been involved.   This is also a great day to pause and pray for those currently serving in Iraq.

This verses above I believe is also a key reminder of how we should stop and remember want God have done in this great nation and how bless we are in our lives.

Do you like me have days when I am angry, mad or just plain forget who God is.  As I read the verses over again I am remind that we are like the people from the bible who went though many mixed trails and troubles.

Did you know are like sheep like the book of Isaiah 53:6 tells us

6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
       each of us has turned to his own way;
and the LORD has laid on him
       the iniquity of us all.

We have all struggled with the things in life that brings us down. And turn our eyes off God.   But I have good news .  This like Joshua told them we should build up memorial stones in our lives the reminds of how God brought us out of unbelievable sensations in our lives.

This memorial day don’t just remember our troops in Iraq and other wars who gave up there lives for this nation but remember How Great our God is and will be forever.

“Living in a time when issues of war, religious politics, and a host of other moral opinions divide the United States, a call to patriotism seems like an imprudent request. But patriotism, like all other kinds of loyalties, can draw us closer or farther away from God.” This is partial quote from this web site http://biblestudies.stores.yahoo.net/paandgod.html

Working last night was not fun at all.  I know work really not suppose to be fun but it should go smooth.  Our credit card machine or the company that run all the cards went down.  I had to back off all the room charges making the foli or invoice a zero balance so the system will let me check the guests out the morning.  That is leaving me to entry all the room charges back in tonight on my next shift and running the credit cards when the credit card system is up and running again.

Besides that I am not be able to sleep like a normal person.  My body can’t sleep don’t know if I should go to the doctor to get sleeping pills.  I think I will have a better day tomorrow.  Thanks for listening to me complain about my life.
